Are you looking for a great laptop that won’t break your budget. Well I have one I can recommend you. It is the Gateway NV5214u which comes fully loaded and includes one of my favorites things on a laptop and that is an HDMI port. This laptop goes anywhere from $449 to $549. Check out the video below where I will show you all the features on it. Also below are the technical specs for the machine and where you can get it.
One thing I wanted to mention is that if you can’t find it because the store is out of stock, than wait until October 22nd which is when Windows 7 launches. Stores are holding out on putting out inventory since they want to put out the laptops with Windows 7 preinstalled and not vista. Come October 22nd all laptops or computers sold at retail stores will most likely have Windows 7 and Vista will be a thing of the past.

Great review and even better site. I have the NV52 and I have been more than pleased with it. I have heard people complain about the speakers, but I have been very pleased with them. Very loud.
I recently bought a Gateway NV52. I know a good thing when I see it.
I could not be more pleased.
I just bought a Gateway NV52 and I’m happy with it for the most part except that when you try to use an external mouse the whole screen goes black and the computer becomes unresponsive. I checked some threads online and apparently it’s a pretty common problem.
I have been using the NV52 for two weeks with a wireless logitech mouse and have had no problems. I use the unit for home and personal use and I have been extremely satisfied. This has been one great buy. Highly recommend!!!
Well, I would of agreed with halfacup untill resently. I was using mine with a old dell optical mouse. It worked just fine for about two weeks. I just formatted my computer due to, mistakes I made and ran into this same problem. That’s how I ended up here. I have had it unplugged for about ten minutes now and no problems yet…
I hope it is just some fluke with the mouse. I will google it I guess, see if there is a patch or fix.
Other then today, I give it 10/10. It works well, and really is about the best deal for the dollar. The only way to get something better, is to spend about another 400-500 bucks.
It seems it’s just a mouse driver problem. I opened up the device manager and then plugged in the mouse and updated the drivers over the internet. I haven’t had a black screen since.
Phenomenal review, very helpful for showing the number of memory slots, features, benchmark, webcam, everything. Thank you!! I am now (will be) the happy owner of this laptop. Thank you Aramistech!
i just bought one yesterday and i am really impressed. i was looking to spend about 650-750 on a dell or an hp and the salesman showed me this. it was 480 so at first i was sceptical but once i looked at the specs and tried it out i was amazed. the specs were the same as the dells and hps around 6-700 but this one had an actuall videocard with dedicated memory. im very happy i got it it was 200$ cheaper than i wanted to spend(maybe 300) and actually a little better. as mentioned before to get something better u have to atleast spend another 4-500$
i picked one of these up a week ago today. so far ive had no problems and i love this machine. one thing i havent figured out how to work with is the multi in 1 card reader. ive googled around for the past hr and all i keep getting is just specs and such. no real help at all.
i checked and it does support xD picture cards, but im not sure if just slide the card right in and if its supposed to be right side up or upside down.
any help will be much appreciated. thanks.
I bought mine 2 days ago, and so far love it except for the slightly too flat keyboard, and everytime I go for the backspace I hit the equal sign a few times. And I will definatly go back and get an external mouse.
I do have a question though, which is how I found my way here. Can anyone explain why the battery light stays lit blue in the lower left of the deck? I’ve powered the machine down, but the light stays on and blue. Thnx

Bulkhead attenuators utilize a wavelength sensitive neutral density filter to achieve attenuation. They can be inserted easily between jumpers or permanently mounted in a fiber distribution cabinet. This type of FC attenuators can be used for either multimode or single mode applications. They use a filter to induce attenuation and are wavelength dependent, so you need to choose between 1310nm or 1550nm versions.

I’ve had this laptop for 3 years and it is a ok one…. The hardware inside is not a good design. The software is great tho! Over all I would give it a 4 stars out of 5.
Ive had my NV52 for about 2 years now its been the best computer i could had ever hoped for except for its heat problem. The NV52 gets incredibly hot very fast and when it does it will have these “lag spikes” lasting 30 seconds when the whole system just does not respond. The laptop is perfect for casual gaming and i bought a cooling pad which fixed the problem! =]
